First of all, we’d never accept money or payment for the work we do.
While we are extremely flattered by the request, we must unfortunately decline.
Hope I answered all your questions well enough ? Feel free to ask anymore or give suggestions. Just take into account that our karaoke hadn’t been done yet (lyrics are there but were slightly edited later) for that episode as we do “speed” releases and I felt the font size was a little small, so I enlarged it a bit in later episodes and will still be doing v2 patches for them. I would suggest you take the first episode of the canon and this new arc (S2 52 or 227) and watch both us and Hatsuyuki and decide which you like more.
Hatsuyuki has flashier karaoke (and for attacks, we just change the color of the text and use romaji with explanations) and they use 10-bit video, but the encoder is the same and upon inspection, it’s not that much better in my opinion as TV video has issues no matter how you encode it, but the CR video is unusable due to its choppiness and overall quality, and the original reason why we started doing this. Also if a line doesn’t sound right or if a word is too fancy or doesn’t suit the situation, I change it to a better synonym. We also change Carla to Charle, as a request from a fan, and I admit it fits better. We have changed wizards to mages for quite a few episodes now, when we started we kept mostly to the official translation and just replaced the video with better timing/typesetting, but now that we’re gaining confidence and becoming more like a real fansub group, we’re doing our best to make the experience as enjoyable as possible and defining our own style. We did this for ourselves, but were open to working with all those that supported it to create the best “fansub” in the quickest possible time. Also see our dead MyAnimeList pages: WCP | WCP-FedSubsĬR/HS use honorifics, we keep them and add as many missing ones as possible, which aren’t very many, but we do normally take into account the flow of speech and who’s talking, so you might find the odd honorific missing but they are few and far in-between and often hard to hear.
If you enjoyed the releases, please continue to seed them if you are able to. This was in NO way an original translation, but it was a slightly different interpretation, see for yourselves.Īll of our releases were normally up within 24 hours of the show’s time of airing (which was 11AM on Thursdays for NS, and 2AM on Saturdays for FT, both times in UTC/GMT).
All lines were re-timed and typesetting was added. The subs were taken from CR/HS and were modified and edited, using the Manga scanlations and official translations as reference, as well as our own knowledge and passion for the shows. Even if CR’s video was watchable, we still did this and were not restricted to just these shows, but they were our main focus. Never mind their grammatical errors and lack of typesetting. Our aim was to provide an alternative to Crunchyroll/HorribleSubs in the shortest possible time for people who watched these shows as CR’s video quality dropped and became less enjoyable to watch, for us anyway. Without Choppy Playback, or WCP for short, was a dual-project by xweel and shaddrag for the shows Fairy Tail S2 and Naruto Shippuden respectively.
